‘Rachel Oniga is not dead – Nollywood Actress 'Eucharia Anunobi' Reveals

For veteran Nollywood actress, Eucharia Anunobi, Rachel Oniga, who happen to be her long time colleague is not dead; in fact, she is still very much alive in her heart and spirit.

Anunobi expressed her feelings at the tragic news on her verified Instagram profile, where she paid tribute to the late actress.

“Hmmmm,” she wrote. They say you're no longer alive. However, you are still alive in my heart and spirit. You honored me on one of the happiest days of my life by traveling out of your way to come to my pH.D conferment on May 30th, despite the distance. You were there for me at the saddest time of my life, when I lost my only son and child. You have a beautiful soul. Always encouraging me and referring to me as "my beautiful darling!" My memories of you are only as beautiful as you were. Rachael Oniga, you have accomplished your goal. May everything go well for the family you've left behind.”

Rachel Oniga died on Saturday, with local reports speculating that she died as a result of COVID-19.

Her family released a letter titled "An official statement on the loss of Chief. Rachel Tabuno Oniga," signed by her sister, Toyin Odusote, revealing the exact cause of her death.

“With a broken heart and absolute submission to God, we write to announce the passing to glory of our dear sister, mother, and grandmother, Chief. Rachel Tabun Oniga,” says part of the statement.

“She died at the age of 64 in a Lagos hospital on Friday, July 30, 2021, around 10 p.m.
