Fans Stunned As Ex-BBNaija Winner, Phyna Turns Restaurant Waitress
Former Big Brother Naija Level Up winner Phyna found herself at the centre of a heated online conversation this week after a video of her allegedly working at a restaurant surfaced on social media, and her response to the backlash has people talking even more.
The clip, filmed by a streamer named Davrel, showed the reality star appearing to serve customers at the establishment. Phyna visibly noticed the camera on her and questioned why she was being recorded. Before long, the video had spread across timelines, and the comments began.
But Phyna was not about to sit quietly.
In a candid response that many Nigerians clearly were not expecting, she addressed the situation head-on and did so without a single apology.
"What is wrong if I am actually working as a salesgirl or as a waitress at a restaurant? Why the bashing online?" she fired back.
She went further, pulling back the curtain on a reality that many former reality stars quietly deal with but rarely admit publicly. The endorsement deals have dried up. The influencing opportunities are not what they used to be, and life after the spotlight is a lot less glamorous than people assume.
"Things are no longer as easy as they used to be. What would you have me do when brands no longer want people to influence for them, and maybe I cannot secure a 9-5 job, and even if I can, the pay is not okay?" she said.
It was the kind of raw honesty social media rarely gets from celebrities — and the reactions were split right down the middle. Many people rushed to her defence, praising her for choosing dignity over deception, others were less kind.
One person wrote, "Honestly, there's dignity in honest work. Well done, Phyna." Another added, "This is why many celebrities end up depressed trying to maintain appearances online."
The pressure to keep up a flawless image online has broken more than a few people who won big on TV and then had to quietly figure out what comes next.
Phyna is clearly not pretending. And whether people respect that or not, that takes courage.

"Nollywood Tried To Define Me Based On My Appearance" - Bolaji Ogunmola
Bolaji Ogunmola has spoken candidly about the early challenges she encountered in Nollywood, stating that her looks frequently led to stereotypes and role limitations.
In an interview with social media star and content creator Joseph Onaolapo, also known as Jay On-Air, the actress said that since she is curvaceous and dark-skinned, producers frequently attempted to categorise her.
She claims that during a time when the business favoured light-skinned actors, she was often pushed to perform "side chick" roles rather than being given consideration for more varied roles.
“It was almost like they wanted to put me in a box. I am dark-skinned. There was a time when light-skinned people were reigning, and they told me I was very curvy and tried to limit me to ‘side chick’ roles,” she said.
Ogunmola, who had competed in the Next Movie Star reality programme but was eliminated before the final house, said that her journey in the film business was difficult but rewarding since she persevered in the face of obstacles.
“My journey has been crazy, but I have just kept at it,” she said.
Besides acting, the actress stated that she understood she didn't want a typical 9–5 office job, so she purposefully entered the business world at a young age.
She clarified that she has always had a business mindset and that she wanted to create something worthwhile outside of the entertainment sector.
“I never wanted to do 9–5. I will not do 9–5; it’s not just me. Shoutout to people who do it; I applaud you. But for me, I am business-savvy like that,” she added.
Noting that stardom in the entertainment sector can be temporary, Ogunmola also counselled young creatives to go beyond celebrity and concentrate on financial security.
“Life is in phases. You are popular today; you may not be tomorrow. What are you doing to put food on the table? You should be investing,” she said.
She also acknowledged that filmmaker Biodun Stephen, whom she described as her first movie production instructor, had a significant influence on her development.
Bolaji Ogunmola claims that her career and professional perspective were shaped by serving before taking the lead and learning from other producers.

Ousmane Dembélé and Kylian Mbappé lead France's 2026 World Cup Team
After national team coach Didier Deschamps revealed his 26-man roster on Thursday for this summer's competition in the US, Canada, and Mexico, Kylian Mbappé will lead France's quest for a third world championship.
Deschamps, who led France to victory in the 2018 World Cup and has announced he would retire after this tournament, chose a combination of recognised superstars and up-and-coming players.
Despite missing Real Madrid's last La Liga games due to a recent thigh injury, Mbappé is anticipated to lead the team.
Ballon d'Or winner Ousmane Dembélé, Michael Olise of Bayern Munich, and Désiré Doué of Paris Saint-Germain create a powerful attacking line with the 27-year-old. Rayan Cherki, a 22-year-old playmaker who has shown promise at Manchester City this season, is also making his big tournament debut.
Real Madrid midfielder Eduardo Camavinga and striker Randal Kolo Muani are notable absences; Deschamps cited Camavinga's inconsistent play and injury-plagued season.
Mbappé, Dembélé, Lucas Hernandez, and N'Golo Kanté are the only four players left from the team that won the title in Russia eight years ago. France will play Senegal, Iraq, and Norway in the first round after being placed into Group I.
