Afrobeat musician Made Kuti has revealed his views on marriage proposals and the reasons behind his decision to propose to his wife, Inedoye Onyenso, without kneeling.
The Grammy-nominated musician stated that he thinks marriage should be a voluntary decision between two people rather than an act where one person looks to be begging; he said this during a recent edition of the Timeless Podcast on Nix Network's YouTube channel.
“I did not go down on my knees when proposing to my wife because I told her it was a mutual decision. We are not begging each other to be with each other,” he stated.
The 30-year-old musician also disclosed that Inedoye, his wife, was once his "school daughter".
In the past, Made Kuti has spoken out against racial prejudice in romantic relationships. He defended his union with his Igbo wife, Inedoye, in 2025 after some critics said the pair were "mixing blood" due to their distinct ethnic backgrounds.
