Amotekun Arrests 98 Suspected Fake Lunatics Linked To Kidnapping And Robbery in Ondo (PHOTOS)

The Ondo State Amotekun Corps has arrested 98 suspected criminals across the state, including individuals who allegedly disguised themselves as mentally unstable persons to carry out criminal activities undetected.

Amotekun Commander Adetunji Adeleye, who paraded the suspects at the agency's headquarters, revealed that the fake lunatics were involved in drug trafficking, intelligence gathering for kidnappers, and robbery operations across the state.

"Our intelligence and plainclothes officers monitored and tracked them to places where they charged their phones, changed clothes, and coordinated operations before they were arrested," he said.

Among those arrested, 10 suspects were caught at active kidnapping scenes. Of the 98 total, 60 are currently being prosecuted, 38 cases were resolved through Alternative Dispute Resolution, and 13 others are still under investigation.

Adeleye also disclosed that operatives successfully rescued a kidnapped couple in the Iluabo community without paying any ransom, with the female victim rescued immediately and her husband freed after an overnight operation.

The commander linked the recent surge in criminal activity to pressure on criminal elements fleeing from northern parts of the country.
