In the aftermath of the death of Sylvester Oromoni, a 12-year-old Dowen College student, Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has urged Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to take necessary action.
In a post on her Instagram page, Toyin Abraham questioned why they would beat a child to death.
When Toyin Abraham viewed the deceased photographs, she was saddened and outraged that a beautiful, healthy boy would die as a result of his classmates' depravity.
According to Toyin Abraham, the occurrence breaks her heart as a mother, human being, and Nigerian, and she adds that many young people die in Nigeria.
"How do you beat a child to the point of death? How do you wake up to the reality that the ‘living’ child you sent to school is returning to you as a corpse? Governor Sanwoolu @jidesanwoolu@lasgeducation please do the needful. People need to start talking. Dowen College need to do better than that terse release.
Looking at this picture above made me really sad. How can this healthy and handsome boy be dead because of wickedness of his peers? Who is rasing these monsters in most boarding houses? Where are the officials employed to look after these boys? I am sad as a mother, I am sad as human being and I am sad as a Nigerian. Why are too many young people dying, especially in this country."
Sylvester Oromoni's story went viral on social media on Wednesday after a Twitter user claiming to be the boy's cousin shared his version of events.
He said that the student was killed after he refused to join a cult group after being approached by some boys.
The school's administration denied the allegations in a statement made on Wednesday, December 1st, alleging that the youngster was injured while playing football with his peers.
