A 20-year-old man called Ridwan has been detained by the So-Safe Corps, also referred to as the Ogun State Community, Social Orientation, and Safety Corps, for reportedly ki;;lling his father in Ogun State for purported ritualistic purposes.
According to an official press release from the Office of the Director of Information and Public Relations of the Corps, Assistant Commander Moruf Yusuf, on behalf of Commander (Dr.) Soji Ganzallo, the State Commander of the Corps, Corps officers heard an odd noise coming from a nearby building on Thursday, August 31, at approximately 12:00 hrs., while on their routine patrol in Oshoku Village, Ijebu North Local Government Area.
To verify what was happening, the cops went inside the building. They were shocked to see a man's lifeless body in a pool of his own blood, and the suspected murderer had left the scene.
The Zonal Commander of the Ijebu Zonal Command, ACC Marcus Ayankoya, was then given the order by Commander Ganzallo to make sure that Ridwan, the suspect, is apprehended within a 24-hour period. He was later nabbed where he was hiding in a bush.
According to the statement, "he confessed to having kil;;led his father, Ishau with a knife used to remove the necessary parts of his body for ritual purposes and a rope tied to his neck."
He further acknowledged that, at the request of a ritualist known as Baba Kekere, he had removed his father's larynx, four teeth, and private parts. Nevertheless, the suspect remained silent when asked where this ritualist had disappeared to.
Ganzallo said that the accused murderer has been turned up to the Ogbere Divisional Headquarters of the Nigeria Police Force for additional investigation and maybe prosecution.
