LARA'S FAITH (EPISODE 21)

As they ate breakfast, Tony stole glimpses at Lara; she only seemed interested in the chocolate she drank, and her toast was still intact.

Without looking up, he remarked, "Madam, you are not eating..."

“Is there anything wrong?” he inquired again, as she remained silent.

“Does it matter what I'm thinking?” Lara was messing about with her scrambled eggs.

“It does, it is important to me...

“Please tell me.” Tony exhorted

“Are you required to go to work every day?” Tony smiled, as if he had expected it.

“Every day, until you return by evening, I stay at home alone, and...” Lara was irritated. Tony burst out laughing.

“Are you laughing? You won't be able to go to work today if you laugh again!” she sulked

“As you can see. That's why I told you to start following me to the office, where you'll find a chair! You could spend the entire day staring at me!” Tony smiled as he stated.

“Thank you, but no.” Lara burst out laughing.

He stated rather than questioned, “You mentioned you were going out today.”

“Sure, yes, I'll be seeing my mother; it's been a long time since I've seen her.” Lara clarified.

“Alright! But...be very cautious.” Tony muttered as he snatched up his jacket.

He kissed her on the cheek and said, "Bye baby..."

She laughed as she said, "Bye..."

“Eehn! So you remember me today, Omolara?” As her daughter flopped on a couch next her, Funke said.

“Mummy, don't begin, o! I'm exhausted!”

“So you're not even going to dine in my house?” Funke made a motion with her hand to the tray she had placed on a stool.

“Not like that, Mum!” “I haven't had anything to eat in a long time...” Lara spoke softly.

“Ehen!” Funke clapped and gave her a thorough examination.

“You have such a youthful appearance! “Isn't it fun?”

“Enjoyment ke!”  Lara sat up and said, "Mum, I came to talk about something important."

“Hmm, go on,” says Funke

“Mum, I worry something is wrong with my body; I'm becoming fairer, and things are changing everywhere...

My bosom, hips...my...mum, you won't believe I've developed a protruding navel...” Lara clarified.

“Hmmm.”

“Seriously, mum, I've lost my appetite, and Tony is becoming concerned.” Lara came to a conclusion.

“Wonderful!” Funke mumbled something incoherently.

“When was the last time you had your period?”

“I believe it was two months ago.” She was informed by Lara.

“Wow! What caused you to become pregnant? I always felt your spouse was a jerk...”

“Please, Mum! Let's not bring up Tony!” Lara came to a halt.

“I have a friend who is a doctor; we'll go see him.” Funke looked at her with a puzzled expression.

“Okay...”

“I'll call him and let him know we're coming.” Funke entered her room, intending to make a phone call.

Lara kept a tight eye on her; she hadn't expected such generosity from her erratic mother.

“I appreciate it, Doctor.” As Olakija arrived into the office carrying some papers, Funke grinned.

“Are you sure it's Omolara?” Olakija inquired of Lara, who replied with a nod.

He informed her that she was seven weeks pregnant based on the results of her pregnancy test.

“Wow! Oh, my goodness!” Lara leaped joyfully and hugged her mother.

“Thank you, Almighty God!” says Lara. I'm overjoyed! I'm expecting a child, Mum! You're going to have a grandchild!” She excitedly shook her mother's hand.

“Oh my!” exclaimed Lara. I need to contact Tony...” Her fingers rummaged in her luggage in search of her phone.

“Err...no, that's not necessary.” Olakija spoke softly.

“Oops! Is it forbidden to make phone calls in your hospital?” Lara made a remark.

“No…its. That's all there is to it. There's a thorny problem.” Olakija let out a sigh. Lara's brow furrowed.

“The foetus is not properly formed...”

“Yekpa! My grandson! Haaa!” Funke covered her head with her hands.

Lara maintained her composure.

“I…I. This is something I don't understand. She muttered, “This...”

“Well…” Olakija took a deep breath and exhaled forcefully.

“You must abort it for your own safety; otherwise, it will become more complicated and, worst of all, it will cost you your life.” Funke started crying.

“What did I do to earn this, ehn?” Isn't it true that I can't have a grandchild? Awon Aje, Awon Aje, Awon Aje, A “Those witches are to blame.”

“I…errm…doctor…

Allow me to return home and notify my husband.” Lara spoke quietly.

“Noo…

We can't let you go at this point! We need to do it right now because your mother is here. We'll give your hubby a call later. It could cost you your life if we let the baby stay any longer.” Olakija expressed his displeasure.

Lara began to say, "Noo..."

“Omolara, a million grandkids o! I prefer your life to a million grandchildren o! Doctor, please assist us and, if possible, remove her womb so that she does not have any further complications o!” 'I'm holding my daughter,' Funke remarked.

Lara realized something was wrong.

“But, doctor, why are you in such a rush?” “What if I didn't see you today?” she wondered, her voice trembling.
