The Arewa Youth Advisory Forum (AYCF) has called on Nigeria's federal government to ban Big Brother Naija.
Yerima Shettima, the AYCF National President, made the announcement today, August 6, while speaking to reporters.
Shettima called the show a tragedy and said it should not be supported because it encourages "immorality."
In his words;
“It's a disaster for me. I've never been a fan of BBNaija, and I don't believe it's fair because the show is immoral. A spectacle like this should not be encouraged.
I have repeatedly stated that this show promotes immorality and that the Nigerian government should prohibit it from being broadcast in our country.
Because a lot of people are watching to see acts of immorality, these sexual activities flaunting their nudity, and they made it look like a ‘blue film,' that is something that should be discouraged.
I implore sincere patriots o join hands and alert the government to the negative consequences of this initiative, which should be avoided.”
BBNaija is a reality show in which contestants live in a house and compete for a substantial cash prize at the end of the show, by avoiding being evicted by viewers.”
