The allegations of drug trafficking leveled against his father by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency are untrue, according to Adesola Omidina, a son of late comedy actor Baba Suwe.
The NDLEA seized Baba Suwe on October 12, 2011, at the Muritala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, on his route to Paris, France, for reportedly taking hard drugs, according to reports. However, no drugs were discovered in him after three weeks of custody.
A Lagos high court then ordered the NDLEA to pay Baba Suwe N25 million and apologize to him for wrongfully detaining him.
"The case is not about what he told me," Adesola told Saturday Beats. Rather, I was involved in the case from start to finish. My father's case was handled by the late Bamidele Aturu, whom I hired.
"I'm not going to get too far into this; it's a narrative for the future." All of the accusations made against my father were untrue. My father couldn't even kill a rat, let alone do the crimes for which he was charged. "That was far too costly."
Baba Suwe's son went on to say that his father lost some acquaintances and was denied opportunities to make money as a brand ambassador for corporate entities.
"There were other people who liked to connect themselves with my father, but they withdrew after that episode and were also attempting to safeguard their reputation."
