As she celebrates her new appointment as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) deputy governorship candidate in Lagos state, Nollywood actress and producer Funke Akindele has dropped the last name "Bello"
Just two weeks prior, her husband Abdulrasheed Bello, also known as JJC Skillz, announced the breakup of their five-year marriage on his Instagram page.
A few hours ago, Funke confirmed rumors of her political position on her Instagram page, saying she is postponing her career to give Lagos the essential breathing room.
The way Funke blatantly omitted her husband's name when announcing herself as the prospective deputy governor of Lagos State was one thing that attracted some netizens' notice.
Similarly, the campaign posters which surfaced online also showed that Funke Akindele has dumped her husband’s name.
Recall that Funke expressed sympathy for the situation of the less fortunate, particularly the youth, in her address. This fueled Funke's fierce drive to support and assist in government.
She asserts that no sacrifice is too great for the realization of the urgent task to save Lagosians, even though accepting the PDP deputy gubernatorial candidacy involves making a significant personal cost.
