Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, a rapidly emerging Nigerian singer and performer, has claimed that the All Progressive Congress (APC) political party has bribed him to back Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election.
The singer and Gboyega Oyetola, the governor of Osun State, appeared in a video that was shared earlier on Wednesday on the singer's Instagram page. He gave his support to the candidate in the video for the Osun State governorship election, which is set for July 16.
After his encounter with the governor, the artist displayed some large sums of cash in another video clip. According to the video, the cash was placed in a paper bag bearing the logo of Osun State.
When Nigerians saw the video, they were angry at Portable and the governor. They singled out Gboyega Oyetola, alleging that he had distributed government funds in an effort to win the election.
The ZaaZu Zeh singer revealed in a follow-up video he filmed on Thursday that the All Progressive Congress political party had paid him to support its candidates and that he was willing to spread the word about the party because of this.
Additionally, Portable asserted that he had previously been paid to disparage Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which he had done. He also said that his assailants should give him space to perform his work.
Portable said; “I was once paid to insult Tinubu, but that was a long time ago. Now, I have been paid by APC to support Tinubu and I will do so. If you are paid to do something, do it well… it’s Tinubu’s turn. I must do the job which they paid for.”
Meanwhile, the All Progressive Congress Party has yet to debunk claims made by the artiste.
