"Please, Daddy, this money won't be enough to obtain what we were requested to buy at school," Sade bemoaned, clutching a few thousand naira bills.
"Please, please, please, take a look at this ungrateful, worthless soul.
Should Daddy put his life on the line for you before you're satisfied?
Look, Daddy has other children to look after, so shut that garbage mouth and find a seat."
Mrs Adeola screamed angrily.
Mr Adeola suggested, "Just calm down and take it easy."
He said, "I'll see what I can do and get back to you Sade," as she walked back into her room, at least relieved.
Since the death of her parents, Sade had been living with her Uncle and his family.
Her parents had only one kid before they died, and she was the only child they had.
Her parents both died when she was a child, so she never truly knew them.
All she could recall was a dim image of her mother's face.
According to what she had heard, her father was an extremely busy guy who seldom remained at home.
Perhaps it was the reason she never got to know him, at least not as well as she had known her mother.
Her father died in a horrifying car accident while on one of his many trips, which came as a huge shock to her mother.
She couldn't suffer the huge loss for long, and a month later she joined him.
Sade's father's only surviving sibling, Mr Adeola, had no choice but to bring Sade to live with his family.
Based on the terrible treatment she received from the rest of the family, he appeared to be the only one who cared about her.
Mrs Adeola despised Sade from the start.
The fact that she looked to be more attractive, clever, and capable than her own children aggravated the situation.
She'd made the poor girl's life a living misery and effectively converted her into a house girl.
The children exacerbated the situation by treating her with the same disrespect as their mother.
"oya oya , you should all get in the car. We're going to be late for church "Mr. Adeola said.
"Greetings, Kai! Waa Church, church, church! Oh, Abeg, I'm exhausted! Which bullshit church are you talking about, sef?" Their first daughter, Bola, murmured.
"I'm telling you, let school do and restart jare; I'm really tired of this religious nonsense. Man suppose flex small na, haba!
Body no be firewood!" Tolani, the second and final daughter, wept as she madly chewed gum.
Sade was already sitting in the car when they eventually joined their parents.
As they took their seats, they both cast nasty glances at her.
To avoid being heard by her father, Tolani whispered fiercely under her breath, "Everytime church."
Throughout the trip, they all sat silently till they arrived at their destination.
The church was the only place she could find serenity, the only place she could feel loved, and the only place she could find relief from her heart's burden.
She adored the Lord and desired to serve him with all her heart. That was the only thing that mattered to her.
She was extremely affected and touched as the choir ministered, because it was as medicine to her spirit, mending her wounded heart.
She found herself smiling warmly as they applauded the choir's amazing performance, revealing her gorgeous set of teeth and the deep dimples that adorned her pristine cheeks.
Before anybody could see the tears that had fallen from her shining eyes, she swiftly brushed them away. Her troubles were lightened once more.
Sade, Bola, and Tolani all returned to their respective higher education schools the next week.
They were all enrolled at different schools and different classes.
Sade's uncle had been generous enough to help her further her studies to that level, and his wife couldn't do anything about it.
Sade worked really hard in order to excel in school, but she was also sensible enough to prioritize God and establish a balance between the two.
She drew attention to herself unknowingly as a result of her dazzling attractiveness, and a swarm of males flocked to her.
Nonetheless, she remained focused and determined to marry properly, according to God's plan.
She would only marry someone who was her missing rib, someone who was God's perfect desire for her.
She thought that with God by her side on this journey, she would be successful, but would she?
