LARA'S FAITH (EPISODE 13)

“Ehen! What is there in life that you should forget about me, Deji?” Lara inquired further.

“Nooo, bestie, that's not the case!” Deji chuckled as she sipped her juice glass.

“Eh, what is it like? Please tell me! Toh awful, Deji!” Lara giggled again as she flopped next to her pal.

“Girlie, yan me, I heard Tony isn't feeling well?” In a mocking tone, Deji proceeded to say.

“He has been sick.” Lara spoke slowly and deliberately.

“I heard his forest's only snake is dead?” Deji inquired once more.

“Now, Deji, don't even begin! That's so inhumane...”

“How could you be so cruel?” Deji tried to imitate her.

“You have no idea how overjoyed I was when I got the news! “Ehn, I danced!” She seemed ecstatic.

“Deji!” Lara gave her a stern rebuke.

“What? Isn't it something to rejoice over?” Deji chuckled.

Lara frowned and said, "This isn't humorous."

“Are you pleased with the catastrophe that has befallen my marriage?”

“Which misfortune, exactly? Isn't it a tragedy that that man was fraternizing with all the women in town?” Deji made a sneering expression.

“Please, Deji!” Lara appeared to be offended.

The beeper then made a harsh sound.

“Excuse me, bestie, Tony requires my assistance right now!” She jumped to her feet quickly.

“Come on!” says the speaker. Deji clutched her gown.

“So you don't turn into that dog wey na beeper dem dey call you shey?” The screeching sound resurfaced, this time louder.

Lara pulled her companion aside and dashed inside Tony's room.

Deji clapped her hands in a gossipy manner as she watched go. She eagerly followed her companion on tiptoe.

“I'm really bored of being indoors; could you please take me outside?” Tony pleaded as he looked at Lara.

Lara wished she hadn't brought him outside because she was afraid of Deji's sharp tongue.

“Lara? Is there something wrong?” Tony gave her a gentle pat on the arm.

Lara assisted him into the wheel chair, saying, "Errrrm, yea...no."

“Okay…” As she wheeled him out of the room, Tony smiled.

They were standing in the hallway when they came face to face with Deji's mocking look.

“Good afternoon, Mr Tony!”   Deji made certain that her voice was heard clearly.

“Good afternoon, Deji; it's been a while.” Tony grinned.

“Of course! I learned of your illness...errr... I'm referring to the paralysis of your legs and....and.....your...”

Deji replied with a naughty grin on her lips.

Tony didn't miss the message she was attempting to convey.

“Let's go!” exclaims the narrator. As she rolled him out the back door, Lara muttered.

As she balanced him on the grass in the mini-garden, she apologized for Deji's attitude.

He just nodded.

“Do you want something to eat?”

“No, I'm fine.” He was reading something on his hand that he couldn't see.

“You don't require anything, at all?” Lara looked about with his eyes wide open.

“Yes, you may proceed at this time; your friend is waiting.” He shook his head and walked away.

“Okay!” She sighed as she walked out of the garden on the balls of her feet.

“Welcome back!”  Iya!” As her companion entered, Deji cracked a joke.

“Seriously, Deji, what you did was terrible! Is it necessary for you to remind him of his problems?” Lara pretended to be enraged.

“At the very least, he received the message!” Deji took a bite out of her beef pie.

“Deji…

“Do you realize how horrible you are?” Lara pressed up to her.

“Oh, yeah!” exclaims the speaker. You don't have to remind me! Anyway, we have to live our lives.” She made a remark, and they all laughed at the same time.
