As drainage systems struggled to cope with the heavy rain in the UK, several streets were flooded.
One Glasgow resident, who is now unable to leave his flat due to the flood, observed a remarkable sight that he photographed and published online.
Gavin Millar, the photographer, was staring out of his top-floor apartment in Battlefield Gardens on the city's south side on August 7 when he witnessed a mermaid swim by his window.
The rainwater had turned his street into more of a canal When he saw the woman dressed as a mermaid attempting to swim in the floodwater.
However, people believe the "mermaid" is just a lady doing a photoshoot.
