Court Orders VeryDarkMan to Apologize, Pay ₦30m to Mr Jollof’s Wife Over Defamatory Claims

A Federal High Court in Effurun, Delta State, has ordered controversial social media personality Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, to pay ₦30 million in damages to Mrs. Esinjemiyotan Atsepoyi, wife of comedian Mr Jollof, over defamatory remarks made against her.

The dispute reportedly began in September 2024 during an online feud between VeryDarkMan and Mr Jollof. During the exchange, VeryDarkMan allegedly accused Mrs. Atsepoyi of having affairs with politicians and internet fraudsters to help her husband secure a political appointment in Delta State.

Following the allegations, Mr Jollof publicly defended his wife and criticized VeryDarkMan’s comments, while Mrs. Atsepoyi filed a ₦500 million defamation lawsuit against the social media commentator.

According to court documents signed by Hon. Justice R. Harriman on May 13, 2026, the court ruled in favor of Mrs. Atsepoyi after finding that VeryDarkMan failed to provide evidence to substantiate the allegations he made.

The court also directed VeryDarkMan to issue a public apology and retract the statements within 14 days through two national newspapers and across all his social media platforms.
