US court documents have disclosed the whole transcript of Abba Kyari's chat with Hushpuppi.
Despite the supercop's statement that he was involved with the fraudster, court documents show otherwise.
According to the paper, Hushpuppi requested Vincent's (also known as Chibuzor) contact information during an earlier talk with Kyari, which the latter provided.
Hushpuppi forwarded the contact information to Kyari, then on January 15, 2020, Hushpuppi sent an audio recording to Kyari via WhatsApp, claiming that he wanted to remind Kyari of what they had previously discussed.
Hushpuppi threatened Chibuzor on January 16, 2020, saying, "I dey usually encourage people to think well before they upset me and let them make sure they fit take the penalties when the time comes." I won't say much more than that, but the wrath of my hands will find you very soon, very soon, and it will permanently damage you. At this point, I have no further dialogue with you; you have committed a crime that will not be forgiven, that is punishable, and you receive die (sic) punishment when the time comes. I swear on my life that you will regret meddling with me, and you may even wish to die before my hands touch you.”
Later, Kyari confirmed Vincent Chibuzor's arrest and detention to Abbas (Hushpuppi), who asked an account number to which he would pay the bribe intended for Kyari's team members.
Hushpuppi also begged with Kyari to inform his team mates that Vincent should be treated like an armed robber.
The following is a transcript of their conversation:
First, Kyari texted Hushpuppi, stating, "We'd pick him up today or tomorrow."
“I will take care of the team as well after they pick him up,” Abbas (Hushpuppi) wrote.
“Yes ooo,” Kyari confirmed.
It also revealed that on January 20, 2020, Kyari sent biographical, identifying information for Chibuzor to Hushpuppi.
Their conversation goes as follows: “That is him, sir,” Abbas (Hushpuppi) acknowledged.
“We have arrested the guy,” Kyari said. He's presently in my cell. This is a photo of him taken after we apprehended him today.”
Abbas (Hushpuppi) stated after seeing the photos of Vincent/Chibuzor, "I want him to suffer through major beating of his life."
Abbas sent Kyari an audio message in response to Kyari's concern regarding what Chibuzor had done to Abbas (Hushpuppi).
“What he did is, I just have one job,” he explained. The job offers me 500, hmm, 75,000 dollars [$575,000]. He went behind me to message the job since I ordered him to assist me create one document to give the job. Then he went—he has a—I told him the specifics.
“Then he went behind my back to message the job and try to redirect the money, and in the process, he told the job that because of the documents he gave me that I gave the job, he tell the job, ‘These documents they sent to you earlier. These people are fake (sic).
“'This money—it is me who can assist you in obtaining it. Bring this money you wish to pay these guys to me, le. I'm the only one who can help you,' and all of this to divert the job for himself.”
According to the document, after hearing the message, Kyari just stated that he understood without demanding any information or evidence relating to Chibuzor's role in the scheme or any inquiries about the nature of the transaction.
Hushpuppi went on to say that he wants to pay money to send Chibuzor to jail for an extended period of time, saying, "Please sir, I want to spend money to send this boy to jail, let him go for a very long time."
Kyari said, "OK bro, I understand. I'll talk to my team about who arrested him... As well as handling the case. We will take appropriate action.”
“Let me know how I can pay money to the team sir, and let them deal with him like an armed robber,” Hushpuppi said.
Kyari answered, "OK, I'll provide you their account information."
Hushpuppi went on to say, "He betrayed me and tried (sic) to take food out of my mouth, this is a major criminal offence," to which Kyari replied, "Yeah bro."
“I want him to suffer for many years,” Hushpuppi said.
Kyari responded, “Hahahaha Hahahaha.”
According to the document, Kyari gave account details for a bank account at a Nigerian bank, Zenith Bank, in the name of someone other than himself a few minutes later.
“OK sir, tomorrow by noon,” Hushpuppi replied.
This indicated that Hushpuppi intended to compensate the Nigeria Police Force personnel who arrested Chibuzor for that service.
According to one section of the document, "this was not the first time Abbas arranged payments with Kyari." On May 20, 2020, Abbas sent Kyari transaction receipts for two transactions from accounts at Nigerian banks (GTBank and Zenith Bank) of a person Abbas knew in the UAE—a person also arrested with Abbas in Abbas’ apartment in the U.A.E. by Dubai Police on June 9, 2020—to the Nigerian bank accounts of another person in Nigeria.
“According to publicly accessible exchange rate information, the sums on the transaction receipts totaled 8 million Nigerian Naira, or roughly $20,600.”
