Yomi Fabiyi To Be Prosecuted By Lagos State Over His Controversial Film 'Oko Iyabo'

The Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) intends to charge actor Yomi Fabiyi for the production of his contentious film ‘Oko Iyabo.'
On Monday, July 26, DPP director Olayinka Adeyemi informed the Ikeja Special Offences Court that the actor violated the court's directions with the film, which depicted facts from Baba Ijesha's ongoing sexual assault case.
“Despite this honourable court's admonition, an actor named Yomi Fabiyi went ahead and made a film based on the facts of this case,” Adeyemi added.
“In the film, he used the genuine names of the parties and witnesses in this case. Our request is that he, his privies, and his agents be barred from participating in court proceedings.
“He is not in court right now, but his representatives may be. This is contempt of court, and we intend to prosecute him and have him brought before this court,” she added.
The sitting Judge, Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, expressed displeasure with the event and ordered an investigation to allow legal action if the accused was found in contempt of court.
Remember that the controversial film, based on a lead character named Iyabo, depicted events from the viral CCTV tape of Omiyinka Olanrewaju aka Baba Ijesha and his victim.
Fabiyi portrayed the struggling actor as innocent and in a consensual relationship with the youngster in the film, which has since been removed from YouTube.
