Kola Mogaji, a 35-year-old serial rapist, was paraded in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, on Friday for allegedly rapping a four-year-old girl (name withheld).
Kola, a fashion designer and a resident of Llorin's Oja Ago neighborhood, is said to have already been charged with rape and is currently on trial in court before this new allegation.
The suspect has an ongoing case in court, according to Babawale Zaid Afolabi, a spokeswoman for the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps in Kwara State. He was suspected of having canal knowledge of a three-year-old girl a few months ago.
“The suspect can be classified as a serial rapist because this will be the second rvpe case charged against him as we continue to investigate his rvpe escapades,” Babawale said.
He went on to say that when the mother of the four-year-old girl saw something unusual in her child, she notified the NSCDC office.
He continued, "After medical explanation, it was determined that some semens were located in the girl's private ."
Mogaji claimed to having had carnal knowledge with the girl, who he claims visits his shop frequently.
“The situation is alarming. The guy is on bail. He had already been charged in court with rape-related offences. Now he's been caught in the act once more,” Babawale lamented.
“The state commandant, lskilu Ayinla Makinde, has been briefed on the unfortunate situation and has ordered a full scale investigation before any further action is taken,” the PRO stated.
Babawale used the opportunity to urge parents, particularly women, to provide proper care for their children during and after the ongoing school vacation.
