On her bed, Funke hardly slept. Since her last contact with Lara, she had been suffering from a recurrent fever.
She questioned herself, “What have I done to deserve such treatment from my daughter?”
“The child I carried for nine months, raised on my own dime, and now turns against Me,” she said, staring at the ceiling. She spent a long time counting the ceiling tiles.
She chuckled maliciously and said, "Hmn!"
“As far as I know, I'm her biological mother, and she needs to get out of that marriage!” Whether Tony recovers or not!” she declared emphatically. She devised a strategy, drew her cellphone closer to her, and dialed a number.
She dialed Deji's number and asked, "Hello, Deji?"
“Greetings, eka le ma!” Greetings for the evening.” Deji spoke in a drowsy tone.
“Please, Deji, come over to my apartment first thing tomorrow morning. We need to talk about something.” Funke whispered something to her.
“All right, ma.” Before hanging up, Deji mumbled something hesitantly.
::::::******:::::
“Deji, eat and drink right now, this is your house o.” Deji drank her drink shyly as Funke spoke.
After Deji completed her snacks, she added, "There's something I'd like us to talk about."
“Back then, I heard about a girl...the girl who used to be Tony's mistress...I mean Sophia...” she added.
“uhum!” Deji gave her a dubious look as he grunted.
“Errr...Deji, I'm familiar with your escapades, and you have this city at your fingertips...” Funke gave her a grade.
“So?” She frowned.
“As a result, I'd like you to inform me where she is! I'm sure you keep an eye on her! Please provide me with her address.” Funke elaborated.
“Did you say that? She said, "What do you want with her?"
“I have some business plans, and I've heard she's good in this field...”
“Of all the women in business in this city?” Deji stepped in and interrupted her.
“Please, Deji, just hand it over to me!” I'll pay anything you need.” Deji is a sucker for money, so funke stated this.
“hmmn, I just hope this ‘business' doesn't have an impact on me.”
o Lara! Deji issued a warning.
“Nooo…
Not in the least! You seem to have forgotten that Lara is my daughter!” Funke chuckled.
“Okay!” Deji scribbled Sophia's address on a piece of paper.
“Thank you, and please name your wage!” Funke grinned contentedly.
“There's no need for it! Meanwhile, I have to go meet Lara; I promised her I'd be there.” Deji took the decision to go.
“All right, bye, and don't tell her about this o.” Funke escorted her away.
As Deji drove away, she waved, a goofy smile on her face.
The first mission has been completed, and the second mission is on track! On her bed, Funke tossed and turned.
