Following his departure from Barcelona, Lionel Messi is said to have received an official two-year contract offer from Paris Saint-Germain.
Last Thursday, August 5, Barcelona revealed that Messi would not sign a new deal with the Spanish club due to financial concerns "and structural obstacles" that precluded Messi from renewing.
The Argentina international, 34, has been a free agent since his contract at Camp Nou expired on July 1, and had verbally agreed to a new contract with lower wages only for the Catalan club to pull the plug.
According to Sky Sports, the French giants have offered Messi a two-year agreement for £25 million per year after taxes, which the six-time Ballon d'Or winner and his representatives are currently examining and considering.
After leaving Barcelona, Messi has two alternative possibilities, but PSG remains the favorite to sign him.
Barcelona announced that Messi would leave the club due to "financial and structural impediments" in fulfilling a new deal that had been agreed upon with the player.
This week, the Argentina international met with PSG head coach Mauricio Pochettino to discuss a move to the French city.
At his goodbye news conference on Sunday, Messi was asked if PSG would be his next move. "That is one possibility, to achieve those heights, he answered.
Nothing has been confirmed by anyone. I got a lot of calls, and a lot of clubs were interested. Nothing is closed at the moment, but we are talking about a number of things."
