600 Inmates Escaped After Suspected Boko Haram Terrorists Attacked Kuje Prison

 

The Kuje Correctional Center was attacked on Tuesday evening by alleged Boko Haram militants, and the Federal Government has confirmed that 600 prisoners fled the facility.

According to Channels Television, Mr. Shuaibu Belgore, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, said during a visit to the prison today, July 6, that more than 300 inmates had been arrested and more are on the way.

Belgore also revealed that the facility houses 994 inmates and that the attackers, which he suspects are Boko Haram terrorists, attacked the facility to rescue their co-conspirators.

One person died and three others were injured during the attack.
