A woman who was brutally assaulted by her ex-lover in warri has given insight into what transpired.
Shocking photos emerged yesterday, September 18, showing the extent of injuries inflicted on Ms. Sodje Omoefe (see here).
The woman has now disclosed that, contrary to what was previously stated, the man who abused her is really her ex-lover.
In an interview with activist Harrison Gwamnishu from the hospital, she claimed that the incident occurred on Friday, September 15, because she refused to carry on with the violent relationship.
The ex-lover, identified as Godspower Owutuamo, is said to be a staff of Shell.

Ms. Sodje claimed that she ended their relationship because she saw his aggressive tendencies while they were dating. Then she started to avoid him and blocked him everywhere.
She told her son about it out of fear that he might become aggressive, and she then invited him to move in with her in order to stop her ex from abusing her.
However, she said Mr. Godspower lured her to a location with the help of someone who knows her then tried to persuade her to return to him. She told him she couldn't get back with him because she is still healing from a fibroid surgery and her doctor had advised her to avoid things that could cause her harm.
When she refused to accept him back, he attacked her and said, "If I don't have you, nobody can have you." He persisted in pleading with her to return.

According to Ms. Sodje, he seized her and repeatedly struck her head on the ground, causing serious injuries that resulted in facial bleeding.
She further said that he repeatedly struck her forehead with his palms and attempted to choke her. He threw her to the ground and hit her some more when she attempted to flee. She claimed that following that, she was unable to stand due to agony at the site of her fibroid operation.
He left her there and ran from the scene.
People walking by discovered her, believing her dead, and reported her finding to a police officer. She was taken to the hospital by the female police officer, who also put her in touch with a lawyer to assist with her case.
Asked if her attacker has been to the hospital to visit her, she said he told someone that he was scared to visit because he heard the police are after him.
He is said to be in hiding right now and to have turned down a police invitation.
Ms. Sodje claims that the incident puts her at risk of serious eye issues, and she has been asked to visit an ophthalmologist.

She added that because she has been at the hospital since the attack, her son has been the one running arund to get justice for her, but the police allegedly asked for mobilization fee of N200,000 to go and arrest her attacker.
