Emmanuel Okyere Baffour, a Ghanian has been declared wanted for the alleged murder of his wife, Joyce Johnes Afi Jassika, after she threatened to divorce him.
Sources revealed that he allegedly murdered his 26-year-old wife in Degede, a neighbourhood of Bibiani in the Bibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Municipality in the Western North Region on thursday, August 6th.
Superintendent Seth Serwonu, Ibiani Anhwiaso Bekwai Divisional Crime Officer, revealed that the incident was reported to the police by the deceased's relatives. Following that, officers arrived on the scene and discovered Joyce in a pool of her own blood, with many stab wounds.
Her body was taken to the Bibiani Government Mortuary for an autopsy, and police have started an investigation and a manhunt for her husband.
According to Supt Serwonu, who confirmed the occurrence, preliminary investigation revealed that the deceased chose to divorce her husband and walk away from the marriage due to a variety of challenges, but he pleaded to say that he had turned a new leaf.
She, on the other hand, insisted on divorcing him, packed her belongings, and drove to her parents' house.
He went to meet the deceased when her parents were not there on Thursday, August 6, 2021, about 12pm, and assaulted her with a knife, apparently enraged by her decision.
He allegedly stabbed her five times, then fled the scene by covering her body with the clothes in the room.
