Pep Guardiola Praises Samuel Edozie, A British-Nigerian Player.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola praises Sam Edozie, a talented British-Nigerian winger who scored three goals in three pre-season matches.

The 18-year-old, who was born in England to Nigerian parents, has played a major role in the club's U23 ranks since joining from Millwall on July 1, 2020. He is currently training with Guardiola's team in preparation for the new season, and he has responded to the challenges of senior football by scoring in each of the club's previous three fixtures.

After filling in for Phil Foden and Raheem Sterling, who are still recovering from their injuries, Edozie has made the most of his opportunities.

Edozie joined City for £400,000 from Millwall last year, and he was in the right place at the right time to score the opening goal in City's 4-1 win over Blackpool on Tuesday night.

In the last week, Edozie also scored against Preston and Barnsley, giving him a three-goal pre-season tally that only Riyad Mahrez can match.

Guardiola, City's manager, now believes the child has a lot of potential.

“A man who gets to the box with the intention of scoring the goal is vital for wingers,” he stated, as a young talent with a distinctive attribute.

“He's a fantastic young player with a fast pace. Allow yourself to be patient with him. They play well in minutes, which is crucial.”

They will play Leicester in the Community Shield at Wembley on Saturday, and Edozie has a chance to make the squad, despite Guardiola's announcement last week that he would be depending on "second team" players.
